Ammar Haghighi

Shahnameh

Description

This mural is inspired by the epic world of the Shahnameh, the masterpiece of Persian literature written by Ferdowsi over a thousand years ago.

The composition brings together several iconic scenes from the epic. The Simurgh, the legendary bird of wisdom and guidance, occupies a central role, while other sections depict Rostam and his loyal horse Rakhsh, as well as the tragic moment of Sohrab's death in the arms of his father Rostam—one of the most powerful and emotional episodes in Persian mythology.

By combining these narratives with contemporary geometric structures and elements inspired by Persian visual culture, the mural creates a bridge between ancient storytelling and the modern urban landscape. The work celebrates themes of wisdom, heroism, destiny, and the enduring cultural legacy of the Shahnameh.
