Una e Tre Persone

The work is apparently an advertising poster showing the face of a girl with blond hair, asking the question "I exist. And you?" and a large QR code. The code takes the public to Chiara Ascioni's Tik Tok profile, almost 9000 followers since its opening on 4 October 2020. This young woman posts very enigmatic videos, fragments, clips of scenes taken from the web in which her face often appears; the interaction of followers with the profile is remarkable. Chiara Ascioni, however, does not exist: everything about her is fake: her face has been created by an Artificial Intelligence crossing images from the web, while the texts of each post are generated by a chatbot, a software designed to simulate a conversation with a human being. The responses to the comments also come from the software and are simply filtered by the artist and chosen according to their adherence to the theme of the entire operation, a reflection on the difference between machine and human being. thinking about the three people mentioned in Rebor's title, the image on the poster, the TikTok profile and the ferryman that connects them, the qr code, one wonders: which is the real person among the three? Can we really go so far as not to distinguish an Artificial Intelligence from a human being? What are we willing to believe in order to feed our thirst for communication?
