Sevedhuset – Sweden’s Most Colorful House

Part of the Color Invasion Festival, Malmö

Art direction by Dan Sapunar / Spaceism

Sevedhuset in Malmö stands as a monumental tribute to the power of public art to transform, connect, and inspire. Created during the Color Invasion Festival, the building was turned into one of Sweden’s largest residential mural artworks. Led by Dan Sapunar (Spaceism) in close collaboration with local residents, the project became a vivid dialogue between art and community.

Sapunar’s contribution is marked by a conceptual duality: one façade breathes in cool blue tones, invoking calm and reflection, while the opposite side bursts with warm reds and fiery gradients, echoing energy and movement. This color contrast speaks to the dual nature of the neighborhood—its struggles and its hopes, its silence and its voice. The balance between the two sides reflects a larger intention: to symbolize harmony, unity, and shared space.

The project was a collective effort involving several renowned artists including Kalle Heijkensköld, Robbin Carlzon, Ola Kalnins, Andreas Källberg, Andreas Solstråle, and Pontus Persson. Together, they transformed Sevedhuset into a living canvas—what many now call “Sweden’s most colorful house.” With support from Malmö Stad, Danielle Wedin, and Lars Andersson, the mural became not just a visual landmark, but a social one.

Sevedhuset has been featured in Sydsvenskan, Aftonbladet, TV4, and SVT, further highlighting its impact as a beacon for artistic activism and urban renewal. The project was documented in collaboration with Futuroberg – Watch the film here.

Sevedhuset is not just a house. It’s a heartbeat. A mural of memory, resilience, and color.
