Description

Located on the exterior wall of the Alte Postlager complex at Mombacher Straße 11–15, 55122 Mainz, just behind Mainz Central Station, the work is part of the vibrant urban art scene that has flourished at the former postal depot since its transformation into a cultural and event venue. Since the site opened in 2019, numerous walls have been legally painted by graffiti and street artists, turning the area into an open-air gallery that is freely accessible to the public. The mural combines a striking character—a smiling figure wearing protective goggles and holding a spray can—with dynamic wildstyle lettering in shades of green, turquoise, and pink. The central figure celebrates graffiti culture itself, confidently presenting the spray can as the defining tool of the craft, while the abstract lettering in the background represents the classic graffiti writing style. By merging character painting with intricate lettering, the artwork brings together two of the most influential traditions in contemporary graffiti.
