LA REDICHA

Description

Small mural for a Tapas Restaurant, with a small portrait of a chulapa paired with a painted menu on chalkboard on a twin mural.

'La redicha' (a verbally pedantic woman) , shows us a finely painted portrait of a Chulapa (typical female character from the Madrid of late 19th century, and early 20th) in an assertive attitude .

The Spanish Illustrator and actress, Carla Díaz Polo, has skillfully portrayed not only the whole Madrileñan attire, white scarf crowned with a red carnation, tight polka dot dress and Manila shawl, but she has managed to capture also her attitude, a smirk on her face, and hands on hips, showing her relentless pride
