Margarita Salas

+2 images

Description

The mural depicts Margarita Salas, a Spanish biochemist, a pioneer in molecular biology, and one of Spain's most prominent scientists, wearing a charity t-shirt.

Her work focused on enzymology and genetics, with notable research on the bacteriophage Φ29 virus and DNA polymerase. She was a student of Nobel Prize winner Severo Ochoa and contributed significantly to the development of molecular biology in Spain.

This mural was created as part of the artistic and charitable project "Art for Dent," @artfordent (www.artfordent.es) an organization that raises awareness and funds for research into Dent's disease, a rare, incurable condition that severely impacts kidney function. Check progress video here

The Valdes City Council (Spain) and the Margarita Salas Foundation collaborated on this mural.
