The ceramic artwork of a large blue cockerel, situated above a goods entrance on Cock Hill, is a nod to the past, when gable stones were used to make streets or buildings recognisable to passers-by. The link between the cockerel and Cock Hill is clear :-)
The artist is unknown, but is thought to go by the initials W.N. The artwork was installed in 1991, when the old warehouses and narrow alleyways in the Spitalfields neighbourhood were being renovated and redeveloped.
