Our Association was contacted by the Youth Group of the Arcigay Livorno Association, which includes young activists aged between 16 and 28, for the creation of an LGBTQIA+ themed mural. The final objective, in fact, is to raise public awareness on an extremely important issue, such as that of the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual community. The project, in fact, will allow young activists and artists to express themselves and use art as a means and as a common denominator to unite people, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, class, religion, etc.
Queer Wall” is the celebration of LGBTQIA+ pride, a true parade in full Pride style, dotted with the faces of the most important figures of the movement who, with their art, have indelibly marked history by becoming true icons and spokesperson for community rights.
The common thread between the characters is the Rainbow flag, designed in 1978 by Gilbert Baker - one of the faces present - and which has since become a symbol of pride, rebellion and fight for the rights and self-determination of the LGBTQIA+ community.
The project is sponsored by the Municipality of Livorno, promoted by the Arcigay Toscana Pride Association and L.E.D Libertà e Diritti and by the MuraLi Association - in collaboration with the Uovo alla Pop collective with the support of Socrem, Unicoop Tirreno and supporters technicians non solo bagno and Sikkens.
