Kunst am Bau

Michael Fischer-Art, did an apprenticeship as a bricklayer and painter, worked as a caretaker in a psychiatry, before he did his A levels after the fall of the Wall in 1992. He studied in the graphics class of Professor Rolf Münzner in Leipzig and got his diploma.

Based on socialist realism, Fischer-Art describes his work as belonging to "market economy realism". In his visual language he uses rich colors, large areas, simple structures and comic-like "muppets", which creates a high recognition value. In terms of content, Fischer-Arts works are socially critical. In his work that is politically and socially critical, he deals with current events such as the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, accidents such as the sinking of the Kursk, but also the addiction to luxury and labels such as Louis Vuitton.
