“The city of Le Mans commissioned an object from me commemorating the Wright brothers' first public flight, at Le Mans in 1908, and La Mancelle, the first mass-produced car (in 1878), invented by Amédée Bollée, whose family helped the Wright brothers to coordinate flight demonstrations from their automobile factory.
