MARE DE DEU DE LA CANDELERA

Through this mural, I wanted to represent the feeling of the local patroness of L'Ametlla de Mar, the feeling of a protective entity for fishermen and a guiding light in bad situations. The veneration of the Virgin through the procession that is celebrated on the 2nd of February involves every year new generational entities that maintain the feeling for the entity in a secular way, this mural aims to be a nexus between traditions and new generations . Although iconographically it is a disruptive image with the perception and representation that Catholicism offers of the Virgin Maria, iconologically it continues to respect her attributes such as the candle and the two doves, in this case stopping the sea storm to be able to protect the fishermen whom are located front of her belly.
