Open cage

MOTS:  Project we did for Meeting of Styles Kosovo 2019. Mural title is ‘Open cage’, it refers to the old custom of cruelty towards bears. In 2010 in Kosovo keeping bears privately became illegal. Before, lot of them, called ‘restaurant bears’ were held in small, dilapidated cages as a cruel attraction for customers. Four Paws and Bear Sanctuary Prishtina ended this terrible chapter of animal abuse in Kosovo. During Meeting of Styles in Prishtina we decided to paint a bear, ‘broken’ by the cage and imprisonment. It is our call for action to animal rights and our expression of gratitude to the sanctuary and all the people who take care of their welfare.  // via. www.mots.pt
