On Saturday 24 November, Micro Galleries brought together women from the local Kathmandu community, the local arts community and the international arts community to create a new mural that explores the stories and experience of Nepali women, and how this is different, or similar, to women around the world. They were provided a wall and paint which gave voice to a shared message about women’s issues, concerns, strength and dreams in order to raise their voice as a collective - locally and globally. For this iteration, the subject decided by the community was water: its importance, the burden on women to collect and use water. and how women will bear the brunt of climate change issues. This mural is on the wall of a community space where women gather, next to a workshop where men work.
