The Watcher

Description

The 'Monument at the Harbor' (aka the watcher) is a bronze statue of a standing male figure with his gaze fixed on the sea. The man carries a storm lantern in his right hand. The monument is a powerful symbol of all fishermen who have to do hard work at sea. The male figure seems to harbor hope for survivors against his better judgement. The statue is in honour of all those fishermen who lost their lives at sea.

Took my first street art photo around 2012, I guess. Developed into a serious hobby over the years. Now trying to get my hometown Haarlem (and neighbouring cities Zandvoort and IJmuiden) on the street art map. 😉 Check my instagram feed for more street art: @iphonekees
