He currently dedicates himself to his artistic practice while he is pursues a Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts from the School of Plastic Arts and Design of Puerto Rico. He has debuted as an independent artist in different international and local festivals and exhibitions. One of the concentrations of his work is expressionist portraiture and the ancestral culture from the lost history of pre-colonial Puerto Rico.

ADDITIONAL INSIGHT:

In this mural, Rafique represents the goddess form of iguana-boina. The term iguanaboina comes from the union of iguana, the symbol of the sun, and “boina”, a dark-colored snake that represents dark rain clouds.  Together they represent the source of life.
