Marsh Fritillary

Under the Theodor-Heuss-Bridge, which leads you from Bismarckplatz to Neuenheim, you can find MANTRA's Marsh Fritillary (Euphydryas aurinia) sitting in the sun. It was painted over six hot summer days, during the METROPOLINK Festival 2022.

MANTRA, Youri Cancell, is a french artist born in Metz. Since he was a kid, he is excited about nature and it's insects. So it is not surprising, that insects play the leading role in his murals. Especially endangered species as the marsh fritillary. MANTRA is a master of the trompe l'oeil (deceive the eye) technique and realizes his huge animals with spraycan and paintbrush.

The butterfly is animated through augmented reality. With the Artivive app, you can make him fly.
