In Loving Memory

A mural to mourn for a special artist, father and inspirator for friends; Remi Vervloet, unfortunately died in 2012. As a young boy, he played soccer across the street from this painting. Growing up in this part of Heerlen, he was a familiar guy in Bekkerveld. 'People probably see all types of stuff in this painting we created by heart' says Dave de Leeuw. 'But thats the way Remi also used to work. Some details might be intense for friends and family, like the big bear head.' Hans Keuls painted the big pond full of sunflowers with their heads hanging down. This is the kind of symbol that seems to fit Remi, Hans says. 'A field of tulips wouldn't work. This image is confronting and raises a certain level of tension.'
