Gaia
This is Gaia's third mural in the Oude Kerkstraat in Schandelen. This time he's showing us the beginning and end of the coal mining in Limburg. You can see Joop den Uyl addressing an audiene inside the Stadsschouwburg Heerlen, on December 1, 1965, announcing the end of the coal mining. Instead of featuring the politician, the figure is cut-out, exposing a scene from the demolition of the Lange Jan smoke stacks that once dominated the local landscape.
