Muurschildering uit mei 2023 voor Saga.
De Maastrichtse kunstschilder Collin van der Sluijs (@collinvandersluijs) verfraaide de Hasseltse stationsbuurt met deze kleurrijke muurschildering van een ekster: een nieuwsgierige en slimme maar soms ook geniepig stelende vogel.
Vogels zijn een vaak terugkerend thema in van der Sluijs' verhalende en figuratieve kunst, die zijn oorsprong vindt in de street art scene waar hij als tiener al deel van uitmaakte.

Collin van der Sluijs vertelde ons dat hij bij dit werk bewust voor een rustige, blauwe achtergrond koos als contrast met de vaak chaotische drukte rondom de stationsbuurt. 
Dit project kadert in het project Street Art Trail waarbij 5 verenigingen van kunstenaars gespecialiseerd in Street Art hun krachten bundelen om, in nauwe samenwerking met de steden Aken, Hasselt, Heerlen, Luik en Maastricht, 5 monumentale fresco’s te creëren rond het uniek thema 'Love Letter from
2023'.

The Maastricht based painter Collin van der Sluijs (@collinvandersluijs) embellished the Hasselt station area with this colorful mural of a magpie: a curious and clever but sometimes sneaky thieving bird.

Birds are a recurring theme in van der Sluijs' narrative and figurative art, which originated in the streetart scene of which he was already a part as a teenager. 

Collin van der Sluijs told us that he deliberately chose a calm, blue background as a contrast to the often chaotic bustle around the station area.

This project is part of the Street Art Trail project where 5 associations of artists specialized in Street Art join forces, in close collaboration with the cities of Aachen, Hasselt, Heerlen, Liège and Maastricht, create 5 monumetal frescoes around the unique theme 'Love Letter from
2023'.
