Commissioned by Yardworks GRID programme. The mural is dedicated to Bud Neill (a celebrated cartoonist from Partick) and his most popular character, Lobey Dosser.
It reproduces the statue of the sheriff Lobey Dosser and his enemy Rank Bajin on the two-legged horse, El Fideldo (Elfie). The statue was created as an homage to Bud Neill and it can still be found in Woodlands (between Park Dr and Woodlands Gate).
On the background, there are different panels from the comic strip, published in Glasgow’s Evening Times from 1949 through 1956.
On the left, next to the horse’s head, we can spot G.I Bride. Another character from the same comic. A statue of this same character can be found nearby in Partick rail and subway station.
This mural was painted over a mural from the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
