Cailleach

Celtic Goddess of winter, storms, creation and destruction. Known for her blue skin and single eye she was a shapeshifter who had the ability to transform in to a giant bird. She was known to care for animals during the winter months, choosing to roam with wolves and herd deer. Although she controlled thunder and storms, she was also known to be caring. But as Christianity arrived in Scotland, tales of Cailleach began to warp and change in an attempt to vilify her and discourage Celtic, Norse and pagan culture and mythology. What better reason to dedicate this latest piece to her legend.
