Los complices

This mural, titled "The Accomplices," won first prize at the 2023 Urban Fest in Getafe. It is a true reflection of the identity, technique, and style of the artist Marifé Rozalén from Jaén.

The artist's style in this piece can be understood through the following artistic keys:

1. Urban Customs and Everyday Life

The artist's main focus is to "freeze everyday moments" and bring emotions closer to the general public. Instead of idealized or abstract figures, Rozalén portrays real youth and moments of pause in neighborhoods. The figure of a young man sitting casually with his skateboard symbolizes urban culture, introspection, and the simplicity of daily life for the new generations.

2. Figurative Art with Loose Brushstrokes

Unlike traditional graffiti based on clean spray lines or defined stencils, her style resembles traditional easel painting on a monumental scale.

She uses a technique rich in textures where individual brushstrokes and blocks of color are visible up close.

This gives the clothing (the play of light on the gray jacket), the folds of the trousers, and the anatomy a very characteristic pictorial volume, reminiscent of modern Impressionism.

3. Dialogue and Integration with the Environment

One of the hallmarks of Rozalén's style is the integration of the artwork with its physical support. The artist cleverly plays with spatial illusion: the mural's background emulates the texture of the brick wall itself, blending the real plane of the wall with the painted plane. The use of a green perimeter frame creates a window effect, opening an imaginary space in the wall where the figure seems to come to life in three dimensions, facing the viewer.

4. Contrasting Color Palette

His palette typically employs earth tones, ochres, and grays for background textures and clothing, allowing skin and small, strategic accents of color—like the red gate behind the young man's head—to guide the viewer's eye and add strength and dynamism to the scene.

Este mural, titulado "Los cómplices", fue la obra ganadora del primer premio del Urban Fest 2023 en Getafe. Es un reflejo fiel de la identidad, técnica y estilo de la artista jiennense Marifé Rozalén. 

El estilo de la autora en esta pieza se puede comprender a través de las siguientes claves artísticas:

1. Costumbrismo urbano y cotidianeidad

El enfoque principal de la artista consiste en "congelar instantes cotidianos" y acercar las emociones al público general. En lugar de figuras ideales o abstractas, Rozalén retrata la juventud real y los momentos de pausa en los barrios. La figura de un joven sentado de manera desenfadada con su monopatín simboliza la cultura urbana, la introspección y la sencillez del día a día de las nuevas generaciones. 

2. Figurativismo con técnica de pincelada suelta

A diferencia del grafiti tradicional basado en líneas de espray limpias o esténciles definidos, su estilo se asimila a la pintura de caballete tradicional trasladada a la escala monumental.

Utiliza una técnica rica en texturas donde las pinceladas individuales y los bloques de color son visibles de cerca.

Esto dota a la ropa (el juego de luces en la chaqueta gris), los pliegues de los pantalones y la anatomía de un volumen pictórico muy característico, cercano al impresionismo moderno.

3. Diálogo e integración con el entorno

Una de las máximas del estilo de Rozalén es la integración de la obra con el soporte físico. La artista juega de manera inteligente con la ilusión espacial: el fondo del mural emula la propia textura del muro de ladrillo, mezclando el plano real de la pared con el plano pintado. El uso de un marco perimetral verde genera un efecto de ventana, abriendo un hueco ficticio en el muro donde la figura parece cobrar vida tridimensional hacia el espectador.

4. Paleta cromática contrastada

Su paleta suele emplear tonos tierra, ocres y grises para las texturas de fondo y vestimentas, permitiendo que la piel y pequeños acentos estratégicos de color —como el portón rojo detrás de la cabeza del joven— guíen la mirada del espectador y aporten fuerza y dinamismo a la escena.
