With the decline of mining, the “City of 1000 Fires” experienced an unprecedented recession from which the city is only slowly recovering. The mural inspires hope for the city's rebirth, symbolized by a phönix hovering over the rooftops on a starry night, watching over the city. The artist, Luogo Comune is an award winning illustrator and mural artist, based in Italy. Graffiti rooted and being an active muralist for several years, his murals can be seen in Italy, Belgium, Austria, Spain, Greece, Estonia, Netherlands, Morocco and Gemany.
