The small artistic commentary to this sculpture, the moustach and painting in the face, adds depths and insight to the ideological origin of the sculpture.

The original sculpture ist called 'Mütterbrunnen' (fountain for/of mothers) by Hellmuth Hopp, a popular sculpture who especially thrived during the national socialist era. The piece was placed in Freiburg 1934, completely allinging with the sexist ideology.

Since decades, citizens have critisised the remain of the sculpture, while others welcome its stay.
