Farbklang

Komposition, Sampling - die Verwandtschaft von Musik und Malerei zeigt sich nicht nur in der sprachlichen Auseinandersetzung mit den beiden Disziplinen. Für den Muralist Chromeo ist die Beziehung der beiden musischen Ausdrucksformen eine Offensichtliche. Beides verlangt nach Dramaturgie, nach Innovation, nach handwerklichem Geschick. Die Komposition des Wandbildes wurde dabei stark von den Gegebenheiten wie dem Format der Wand und der beiden Abfalleimer, die vor dem Bild stehen, beeinflusst. Entsprechend sind die Hauptaugenmerke, die beiden Hände, ganz rechts gemalt, um den Kübeln visuell aus dem Weg zu gehen. Als Vorlage für die beiden Hände hat Chromeo bewusst Stockfotos (Bilder einer Seite, auf der Fotografen ihre Fotografien zur Verwendung anbieten) benutzt. Dabei soll der Aspekt des Samplings zum Zuge kommen, in dem eine bereits existierende Fotografie einer Drittperson malerisch interpretiert und neu angeordnet wird. 

Composition, sampling - the affinity between music and painting is not only evident in the verbal exploration of the two disciplines. For the muralist Chromeo, the relationship between the two forms of artistic expression is an obvious one. Both call for dramaturgy, for innovation, for craftsmanship. The composition of the mural was strongly influenced by circumstances such as the format of the wall and the two trash cans that stand in front of the painting. Accordingly, the main eye-catchers, the two hands, are painted on the far right to visually avoid the buckets. Chromeo deliberately used stock photos (images from a site where photographers offer their photographs for use) as a template for the two hands. The aspect of sampling is to come into play, in which an already existing photography is interpreted and rearranged in a painterly way by a third person.
