On Sandweg, in Frankfurt’s lively Nordend district, Austrian artist HNRX has added one of the city’s most playful and unmistakable murals. The work was created as part of Museum On The Street, an ongoing initiative by Frankfurt‑born artist Guido Zimmermann, who has been transforming façades into open‑air exhibition spaces since 2015.

HNRX’s mural embodies everything that defines his visual language: exaggerated everyday objects, warped and stretched into humorous, almost absurd characters. On this gable wall, his signature thick outlines and intentionally imperfect forms animate a surreal still life that blurs the line between object and personality. The composition feels spontaneous and mischievous, inviting passers‑by to reconsider the ordinary through a lens of distortion and fun.

As the sixth artwork in the Museum On The Street series, the mural expands the project’s core idea — turning the city into a democratic museum where art interrupts daily routines rather than hiding behind institutional walls. In the Sandweg, HNRX’s piece injects color, curiosity, and a touch of the bizarre into the neighborhood, offering a moment of visual playfulness to anyone who happens to walk by.
