Peace

My 3rd Mural for the Maryborough Mural Project.
I was asked to reference the 'Peace cake' for this Mural.
All main elements (14th Light Horse Brigade, Kangaroo, Emu + Lion) are taken from the small, hand made, sculptural pieces from the cake sculpture.
(See below for details on the cake + the origin of it)
The doves, ANZAC symbol, roses, peace wreath + NZ fern were added through the design process as the original sculptures from the cake were too small to reference, accurately.

The original cake was specially made for the Mayoral Victory Ball held at Maryborough’s Town Hall to celebrate the end of the First World War.
The cake itself was then re-created by the principal sculptor Ms Elizabeth Hersey together with colleague Marni Koster.
(The cake stands about 5 feet high (1.5 metres)

This mural is 6.3m (W) x 3m (H).
