Description

Mexican-American iconography involving the heart embraces anatomical realism instead of representation. This mural is no exception. This is a beautiful typical representation of the Sacred Heart, strong in Roman Catholic representation of Jesus' love for humanity. The heart is surrounded by the crown of thorns that Jesus was forced to wear, and capped by a gold crown and flames. This is seen on a wall of the Sacred Heart Church in Segundo Barrio.
