El Chuco

One of Tino Ortega's iconic balloon murals, this one captures the self ID of many native El Pasoans - El Chuco. It's said to be derived from either an old shoe salesman or from the zoot suits that famously showed off the unique style of El Paso's Mexican American community in earlier days. Either way, people still name it and claim it.
