La morenita

Description

The wall is on a local community restaurant. Owners are Angie and Alfredo Cruz, Mexican Chicano owners. This is Edmontons, and Alberta's very 1st Latin Mural (From what we can find) "which is crazy to think that they haven't been represented here" said JD. The mural has been approved for an expansion.

"This mural pulls from generations of struggle, pride, and movement. I’m incorporating figures like Emiliano Zapata, The Aztec warrior, and the Virgin Mary, along with cultural symbols like the Chicano flag, the new autism infinity symbol, and the iconic Walterdale Bridge. Every section is meant to carry weight—and connect." Read more at itsjdart.com

Art happens here, wherever we are. It jumps off the train rolls down the ditch and smashes into the wall leaving it's mark on your soul...in your memories..and on the society around it. X marks the spot where you open yourself to the magic. I believe in the freedom that is more free then not having to pay to see the galleries. My eye is on the wall, and I'm Part of this CawmUnity.
