The two artists STEFFEN 'HOKER' MUMM and TOM71 have one thing in common: a passion for calligraphy. As part of the 40 Grad Urban Art Festival, the first large-format collaboration between the two will be created from August 30 to September 6.
STEFFEN 'HOKER' MUMM's unique style combines a symbiosis of graffiti, calligraphy, illustration and other mediums and styles that he has experimentally explored over the years. In recent years, he has been particularly focused on his "heads", which have become his trademark. He knows how to combine his passion and his drive for growth with an intuitive and free approach. His artworks are a reflection of his personal development and offer viewers the opportunity to immerse themselves in a world where attention to detail and intuition are in harmony.
TOM71 is one of the first Düsseldorf graffiti painters of the 1980s. Over the years, his style has evolved from classic style writing to a combination of geometric circles and calligraphic elements, which come together in large-format wall works.
Hoker One and Tom71 designed a façade together. They worked together for the first time and calligraphy became their connecting element. Steffen Mumm aka. Hoker One is from Düsseldorf and is known for large calligraphy lettering and his unmistakable "heads". The heads can also be seen at Wittenberger Weg 1 and although the artist has already painted many heads, they are each unique. The heads are framed by the elements of Tom71. He is one of the first Düsseldorf graffiti painters of the 1980s. In the combination of geometric circles and calligraphic elements, he has also incorporated the Fortuna logo
The mural by the artists STEFFEN 'HOKER' MUMM and TOM71 is symbolic of the community in many ways. The heads of STEFFEN 'HOKER' MUMM stand for the residents of Wittenberger Weg, both in an individual way and in the form of one or many communities. The circles and graphic lines of TOM71 stand for a harmonious coexistence through both friendly and family ties. The eyes in the center of the circles are symbolic of the support of one community: Take care of each other!
