Groeten Uit Deventer! / Greetings from Deventer

In this "Greetings from Deventer" design, Peter Kortleve (Shortlife) incorporated an element from Deventer in each letter. From left to right:

D: Lebuinus Church, The place where Deventer pretty much started when missionary Lebuinus crossed the IJssel in 768. It symbolizes the history of the city, but also religion, architecture, and is of course a beacon for Deventer residents. When you see it from the highway, you know you're almost home.
E: Etty HillesumBesides being associated with our city as a well-known, historical person, she is of course also a symbol of literature, the story of the Second World War and a lasting source of inspiration for many.
V: Deventer Boekenmarkt (book city) Book Fair, A symbol for literature, culture, events and fun. This annual and busy market is a party for me as a graphic designer and illustrator when it comes to inspiration and beautiful graphic work.
E: The new town hall, Symbol for striking architecture, our governance, democracy and the place where the identity of every inhabitant of Deventer is stored. Where you literally register and collect your identity in the form of a passport, for example.
N: Go Ahead Eagles, Of course this could not be missed. It's not a specific person. This is purely about club love, football or sport in general. The colors yellow and red were a starting point for the choice of color for the mural.
T: The water tower, A beautiful monument. Also a symbol for architecture and history. In addition, water also represents life and the city on the IJssel.
E: Deventer on Stilts, A symbol for art, culture, events, wonder, excitement and fun.
R:  The Havenkwartier / the gray Silo + the Lucy Galaxy, The old industrial area that is now a creative breeding ground. In addition to creativity, this place also shows entrepreneurship, art, culture, but also guts. For example, in the special homes that are there now.
