This electricity house was inspired by the one and only 'Haagse Harry', the famous character for the stereotypical Hagenees. Haagse Harry became famous for his flat Hague dialect in the comics and is based on a real person. What makes this house extra special is the fact that the recently deceased cartoonist himself helped spray the house. This work of art also stands directly in front of his parental home.
The mural of Haagse Harry on the utility building Valkenboskade was damaged in 2022 and is in need of restoration. After exploring the neighborhood, a majority of residents expressed the wish to keep the artwork intact. This was not surprising, since the original illustrator, Marnix Rueb, had family living near the now almost monumental piece he worked on before his death in 2014.
