The artist says of the piece (via the DSAF website), "This piece is incredibly significant for me personally. My father lived in Darwin for over a decade in the 70's before Cyclone Tracy forced him to move to the East Coast. My dad always told such wonderful stories of the NT and Darwin, from the sunset to crocodiles, lush greenery to formidable red earth. My dad loved this place and it shaped a lot of who he was (growing up, no one else's dad was wearing an akubra at the beach). He passed away last year after a life full of adventure and stories, a life I emulate, and it was an absolute blessing to be able to land in Darwin to support and kindness to make this beautiful piece while carving out my own stories and memories from this special park of the world. He would be so proud."
