Coonalpyn Silo Art

As you approach the Coonalpyn Silos, the first thing you notice is their size. They are huge and very close to the road so you can actually get quite close to them. It must have been spectacular for drivers passing by to watch Guido van Helten paint these silos and they definitely rate as one of my favourites.

The Coonalpyn Silos were the seventh silos to be painted in the Australian Silo Art Trail and were completed in March 2017.

They are a magnificent tribute to five Coonaplyn Primary School children, who’s images will now live on in the history of the town forever. The lucky five are six year olds Kiarah Leske and Blake Thompson, five year olds Macey Jacobs and Reef Gregor and nine year old Ciara Johnson.

This project took a little longer to complete than others, as bad weather and cherry picker problems got in his way, not to mention the unusual shapes of the silos themselves.

There is ample parking for vans and busses at this site with three food outlets stores directly across the road. A great place to stop for lunch as you travel the Dukes Highway in South Australia.
