The Hands that Built Our City

German-born emigre to the US, Winold Reiss, created his most memorable work in Cincinnati in 1933—a pair of 22' x 110' mosaics telling the story of the city's history on the walls of its new Union Terminal. In 2013 Jenny Ustick led a team of ArtWorks teaching assistants and youth apprentices adapting the hands of Reiss's mosaic for the outside of the Duke Energy Convention Center, and adding the hands of two convention center employees and one ArtWorks apprentice as a “nod to Cincinnati’s vibrant future.”
