Rise from Rubble

Christchurch has a dynamic future. The evidence of this appears daily as beauty rises from the rubble. The kōwhai and silvereye represent this beauty, just as they represent all of New Zealand's flora and fauna.

By incorporating these elements, Warrell acknowledges the loss witnessed in Christchurch while looking forward to the future and a new life as the city continues to rebuild in hope and inspiration.

The artwork was selected as part of a public vote commissioned by Christchurch City Council.
