Andrea Michaelsson, aka BTOY, is an urban artist from Barcelona, internationally recognized for her works using the technique of stencil since 2002. Her work is usually on irregular surfaces, adding waste pollution and advertisements, where the doors and boarded windows become ideal frames. Her characters stop and fix their gaze on us, making us reflect on the passage of time. Portraits with a strong nostalgic load, shaken with brushstrokes full of strength and color. The stencil is an artistic technique of repetition that, through a card or acetate, creates an image or text that is easily reproducible. In this master class the students worked for three days their stencils with the manual cutting technique from their previous edition and projection, to finally capture it on a large format wall using sprays for their final painting. This activity was designed and directed to a target audience related to the plastic arts, which has some kind of experience, training or relationship with art. In the workshop, which took place on the walls of the old station of Carballo, singular female figures were represented, such as Cristina Pato (famous bagpiper) or Marcela and Elisa (first couple of women that got married in Spain, in 1901). It was part of Rexenera Fest 2017.
