Together for Forests

This 3D immersive 42 meter-high mural, created in the heart of the EU Quarter in Brussels, aims at raising awareness on the impact of EU consumption on forests and nature around the world. It is a tribute to the hopes of hundreds of thousands of citizens who demanded an ambitious EU deforestation law, through the #Together4Forests campaign. This law is currently being discussed in the European Parliament and among national governments.

Let’s keep deforestation off our plates!

This mural was made in collaboration with @streetartmankind and @wwfbelgium in February of this year in the city of Brussels, and is a reminder of how fragile our ecosystems are and the importance of protecting them.
We know that the planet is home to millions of species that coexist in a delicate balance that is being affected at a disproportionate rate with respect to the exploitation of natural resources that causes climate change and the consequent disappearance of many ecosystems. No action is isolated, it is part of a chain that affects from the Amazon jungles to the African savanna.

This overexploitation has led to deforestation, which reduces the species' habitat and destroys biodiversity. Creatures like the jaguar have fewer spaces and their population is reduced considerably each year. The standardization of crops in turn unbalances the ecosystem while millions of native plants die, altering the rain cycle, raising temperatures, leading many species to extinction.

This mural reflects a latent reality in which species are sustained in a fragile but volatile scenario where only a spark is needed to light the fire and reduce everything to ashes.
