Between help

Solidarity, expertise and humility.
It is a story of women and men who, during this health crisis, stood shoulder to shoulder and remained united in spite of the difficulties.
Skills and know-how were mixed and reinvented, regardless of the standing and duties of each and every person. People were able to call upon each other. The teams were re-structured to create new ones, a balance was established where each profession, each skill-set was cherished and harmonised.
The artists wanted to showcase this idea of sharing, complementarity, professionalism and complicity that was fostered during this period.
To achieve this goal, the idea behind this mural is to unite the women and men who all work in the healthcare environment as well as CPAS (The Public Centre for Social Welfare) and other front-line services. The artists did not wish to add any scenery or text – the human being was the central figure in this crisis. These characters are like a patchwork of cut-out paper shapes, nestled next to each other. One cannot exist without the other and together they form a 20-metre high mural.
Even if the theme of the mural revolves around this unprecedented health crisis, the overall objective is not to create a piece that is overly gloomy. On the contrary, we need to find the right balance between a well-guarded, strong and united outlook.
