Les Femmes

 In the parc Fontainas

Having been started in 2018, this fresco with the title Les Femmes (‘The Women’) was initiated by the Minster with responsibility for Women’s Rights, and by Alter Egales, a participatory assembly for women’s rights, created in response to the advocacy of women’s and feminist organisations, but above all with a view to achieving genuine equality between men and women.

The work represents many female faces, symbolising solidarity amongst women. Among these faces one can recognise two emblematic figures in feminism: Frida Kahlo, and Vandana Shiva. The colours are warm and feminine, placing women once more at the forefront of the urban stage, which consists mainly of men. This fresco was implemented on a bare, non-renovated wall, covered with delicate feminine figures, who, for the artist, symbolise the struggle for equality between men and women.
