Friedenstaub (Dove of peace)

Unfortunately this mural is no longer the original. The dove of peace, which was once depicted with a newspaper as a criticism of the NATO double-track decision by the artist Wilfried Siebold, is recreated in a simplified form during a facade renovation.

Original mural: A large white dove of peace breaks through the wall of a house in Bremen and stretches its wings powerfully towards the sky. The bird pierces a newspaper from November 23, 1983 with a report on the Bundestag debate on the NATO double-track decision and the stationing of NATO missiles on German territory against the Warsaw Pact states. With the mural, the artist pleads for peaceful action and thus against the NATO double-track decision.
