Concordia Tunnel Mural

The artist Nozipho Mbhele, along with three artists—Buhle Mbambo, Sthenjwa Luthuli, and Mthobisi Maphumulo from Bremen’s partner city Durban, South Africa—collaborated with Bremen-based artist Edeltraut Rath to redesign the Concordia Tunnel on Schwachhauser Heerstraße.

The mural is themed "See Saw – Hin und Her," reflecting the constant ebb and flow within the tunnel and symbolizing the cultural exchange between Bremen and Durban. The design features triangles pointing in various directions as its fundamental shape, with their color fields adorned with patterns and ornaments inspired by African culture.
