Artwork created for Blind Walls Gallery in 2025

"Artist duo Tosca van der Weerden and Niek Vergeer invited 15 children from their neighborhood to draw what they love most about their area or what they enjoy doing there. This resulted in two colorful designs that will be applied to two walls located at the intersection of Laan van Mertersem and Gielis Beijsstraat

Tosca (she/her) creates funky feminist illustrations that make complex ideas accessible and inspire people. Her work revolves around inclusion, empowerment, and recognition, and has already attracted clients like Amnesty, Adobe, and Bumble.

Niek is a multidisciplinary (tattoo) artist with nearly 20 years of painting experience. From a unique neurodiverse perspective, he creates vibrant, inclusive spaces that break away from sterile designs, always with a focus on connection and joy.

Together, they create bold, colorful art from a neurodiverse and intersectional feminist perspective, with the goal of inclusion, connection, and expression. As partners in life and work, they bring their passion, vision, and love to public spaces." - Blind Walls Gallery

Muurschildering voor Blind Walls Gallery in 2025

“Het Bredase kunstenaarsduo Tosca & Niek vroegen de lokale jeugd wat zij het leukst vinden aan hun buurt of wat zij daar het liefst doen. Aan de hand van een drukbezochte workshop tekenden de kinderen over hun eigen speelgoed, voetballen in de speeltuin en de hond uitlaten, om al dan niet stiekem, een ijsje te gaan halen bij de lokale ijssalon.

Op basis van al deze tekeningen ontstonden twee ontwerpen voor de kleurrijke muurschilderingen. Hierna was het tijd voor iedereen om mee te schilderen. Lokale kunstenaars, buurtbewoners en natuurlijk de kinderen hebben meegeholpen. Een schildering door, over en voor iedereen!
