Farmers from Princenhage

The Princenhage area of Breda was known for cultivating fruits and vegetables. The farmers provided food for the city of Breda which were sold at the local auction-hall. Because of the growth of Breda and upcoming mass production of fruits and vegetables in greenhouses a lot of horticulture disappeared and had to make place for residential areas.

HNRX was inspired by the farmers of Princenhage and brought the fruits back to the place where they once flourished. An intriguing combination of blackberries, cherries, dentures, toothbrushes and matches was the result. HNRX calls his style of work ‘COMICSURREALISME’ and we couldn’t come up with a better word for it.
