The most succesful cyclist of the south

Frits Pirard may be the most successful cyclist from Breda. He raced with well-known cyclists such as Joop Zoetemelk, Jan Raas and Gerrie Kneteman. Pirard is the only cyclist from Breda that has ever worn the yellow jersey after his victory in the first stage of the Tour de France in 1983.

Sign painter P. Winkel (NL) painted the display case next to the bicycle park as a tribute to Pirard’s impressive career. The painting contains many references to his cycling career. The years refer to the duration of his professional career, the logos to the teams and sponsors and of course a portrait of Pirard next to the flag of Brabant
