The municipal council of Bornem would like to thank the young people in the municipality for having endured the corona crisis so well. There will be murals on the facades of the two secondary schools in Bornem. The students were even allowed to make suggestions about which drawing will be on the walls.
“The idea arose from the municipal youth service to symbolically thank the young people for their efforts,” said alderman Gulhan Saadet (N-VA) to Radio 2 Antwerp. "During the corona crisis, we had the feeling that young people were often forgotten. They often could not go to school or hobbies, and contact with friends was via a screen, all not so obvious. The idea is to go to the places where most young people go. to provide a big 'thank you' in the form of a beautiful piece of street art on the facades of the secondary schools.”

To help determine the image, the school organized a survey among the students, says Gulhan Saadet: "We passed on a number of suggestions, and Dzia created a certain work from it. The idea is a big 'thank you' to show that we young people have not been forgotten."
