Tribute wall for Jazz festival

Sozyone has painted the facade of the Holy Sepulcher Institute on Jazz Bilzenplein to honor the lasting legacy of Jazz Bilzen and involve young people by teaching them about the festival. Between 1965 and 1981, Jazz Bilzen attracted many big names. The festival was a trendsetter in Europe and a precursor of the major festivals that would follow in Belgium. The city would like to highlight this.

Councilor of Culture Griet Mebis (Beter Bilzen) explains what can be seen: "We see the face of Tony Iommi, the guitarist of Black Sabbath, incorporated in a design with many birds. These indicate freedom and flower power , what the festival was known for."
