Hanks for the Memories

This is a tribute to a dog called Hank who was due to be euthanised under the Dangerous Dogs Order in Northern Ireland, a widely criticised piece of legislation which allowed dogs to be put to sleep not because of their nature of behaviour, but because of their facial features. There were dogs that were destroyed because of their breed.

Hank was removed from his family under this legislation, but there was a massive public campaign to save him. As a result, it is believed that the Lord Mayor of Belfast at the time, Brian Kingston, intervened and Hank was saved... which is why he looks so happy.
