Louis Masai is a dedicated campaigner on environmental issues and uses his talent to highlight the plight of endangered creatures. Numbers of the Golden Lion Tamarin Monkey fell as low as 200 individuals in the wild in the 1970s, with the mass destruction of their Brazilian rainforest habitat. Still an endangered species, it is estimated that there are 2,500 today, largely due to a breeding programme which Belfast Zoo has contributed to.
